In a study comparing two treatment options for lung cancer, men with stage 2 lung cancer are randomized into two groups to receive either a new immunotherapy or traditional chemotherapy. These men are then followed for 1 year to determine if there are any differences in lung cancer survival rate into two groups. What kind of study is this?
EPIDEMILOLOGY
EPIDEMIOLOGY IS DEFINED AS THE STUDY OF THE DISTRIBUTION AND DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH - RELATED STATES OR EVENTS IN SPECIFIED POPULATIONS,AND THE APPLICATIONOF THIS STUDY TO THE CONTROL OF HEALTH PROBLEMS.
THERE ARE MAINLY TWO TYPES OF EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDIES CURRENTLY IN OPERATION THEY ARE
a. DESCRIPTIVE STUDIES
b. ANALYTICAL STUDIES
i) ECOLOGICAL STUDIES
ii) CROSS - SECTIONAL STUDIES
iii) CASE CONTROL STUDY
iv) COHORT
a. RANDOMISED CONTROLLED TRIAL
b. FIELD TRIAL
c. COMMUNITY TRIALS
IN OUR CASE A GROUP OF PEOPLE HAVING 2 STAGE LUNG CANCER RANDOMISELY SELECTED FOR EXPERIMENTING IS NEW IMMUNOTHERAPY OR TRADITIONAL CHEMOTHERAPY IS EFFECTIVE TREATMENT.
SO THIS EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDY IS RANDOMISED CONTROL TRIAL BECAUSE THE GROUP MUST BE SIMILAR (LUNG CANCER 2 STAGE PEOPLE) . THE SECOND CHARACTERSTIC IS THE STUDY IS FOR COMPARING ( COMPARING EFFECTIVNESS OF NEW IMMUNO THERAPY AND CONVENTIONAL CHEMOTHERAPY).
THEREFORE THE NAME OF STUDY IS RANDOMISED CONTROL TRIAL IN EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES OF EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDIES
