Imagine that you are in the following real life situation. You are working in the human resources department of a company. You are conducting a study of gender equity in the workplace. You find that the company employs more men than women and that men are on average paid more than women at the company. However, you also find that women are paid more than men with the same job title. Do you think that the firm is discriminating based on gender? What steps would you take to address any possible biases?
Sex discrimination poses the issues in the work place. It was the operational issues prevails in all over the countries. Women employees are witnessing so many problems in the workplace. This is due to the firms non prudent judgement of female employees skills and their ability to work for the long period of time. The Human Resource policy has some remedy to make pull stop for the gender discrimination issues. But actually when making the field work research on the study of gender equity in the workplace, I was happen to met the situation of women employees are paid more than the male employees with the same job profile and also the quantity rate of women employees was very less than the male employees.
I agree that the management of the firm was witnessing the state of discrimination based on gender equality. I may suggest some initiative step to address the possible biases on the issue of gender equity by the following points. If i become the HR manager, i will suggest following recommendations to the labor laws which supports the development of both genders.
1) First of all i will request the labor ministry of Federal Government to strictly monitor the Equal Pay Act in all the HR departments of all the firms. If any firms fails to follow the policy of Equal Pay Act, the Ministry of Commerce and Economic affairs can cancel the license of the firms if any complaint was lodged by women employees.
2) Secondly, I may recommend to modify the labor law with regard to the issues facing by the women employees after the maternal leave. Actually women employees loose their promotion chances as well as their rights when they return from the maternal leave after very long-period. The firms should take appropriate steps to promise the promotion chances irrespective of the competition rivalry exists with the male employees.
3) Thirdly, Labor Ministry can direct the all the HR department of all the firms to treat equally both male as well female employees with their family background and the marital status, etc. Especially women employees are discriminated based on their marital status and also with their basic instinct problems. They are denied permissions when they are affected by the periods time as well they are forced to work for long hours when the face security issues in the time period when they return to home after finishing the extended work.
4) Finally, Women employees should not discriminated on the basis of their physical strength by comparing with the Male employees. Firms running Airways business ventures, they should allow women employees to work as a pilot and also women employees should have equal rights with the male employees in sectors of employment.
