TODDLER: Child whose age is inbetween 12 to 36 months is called a toddler

This is the period during which they have the cognitive emotional and social development

DEVELOPMENTAL MILE STONES :

12 MONTHS :

PHYSICAL

• They will sit without the help of others
• They will try to walk alone holding the furniture
• They will stand on their own

COGNITIVE

• They will try to copy the gesture
• They can bring two different things together
• They will follow simple instructions with gesture like " pick up the cup"

SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL

• Theyl will play games such as pat-a-cake
• They will cry whenever their mom and dad leaves
• They will repeat some sounds to get attention

LANGUAGE:

• Says one or two syllable words like mama,dada
• Tries to copy and say the words you say

if the child of this age donot perform any such activities and stays dull contact your nurse immediately

2 YEARS OF AGE:

PHYSICAL:​​​​​​​

• They will try to kick the balls
• They will try to climb up the furniture present
• They will try to walk down the stairs on their own
• They can pickup and throw the ball overhand

COGNITIVE

• They can identify and sort out shapes and colours
• they may build towers using the blocks[ upto 4 blocks]
• They can follow two step instructions now like "pick up the book and keep it in cupboard"
• They may start using one hand more than the other

• They will identify and point out the picture when named
• They will know the names of familiar people
• They can identify their own body parts

• They will get excited whenever they are with other children
• They will show more independant behaviour
• They will start doing what they have been told not to do

3 YEARS OF AGE:

PHYSICAL

• The child will run easily
• The child can pedal a tricycle
• climbs well

COGNITIVE​​​​​​​

• They will work the toys with buttons and some moving parts
• They will build towers with more than 6 blocks
• They can screw and unscrew the lids of a door handle

LANGUAGE​​​​​​​

• They will follow instructions upto 3 steps
• they can tell their name age and sex
• They can name their friends
• They can say words like i,me,you and some plural words like books, pens etc

SOCIAL

• They will show wide range of emotions
• They can now easily seperate from mom and dad
• They may get upset with major changes in routine
• They will try to dress and undress themselves
