Sheryl Sandberg, Chief Operating Officer of Facebook says women have to take charge of their careers and stop making bad decisions. She believes they do too much "leaning back" - such as taking a back or corner seat at a meeting table, and do too much "leaning out" - such as not accepting new responsibilities because motherhood is planned sometime in the future. Instead, Sandberg advises women to "lean in" and "don't leave before you leave". Is Sandberg being too critical or is she on to something? Have you witnessed this this experience? Develop a two page reflective paper on "leaning in" and whether you thinks there is value

Introduction

Social Micro and Macro Economics are soon emerging as one of the key hot topics to be researched. For the growth of any economy the participation of women in the overall workforce is a matter of deep analysis and widely affects how growth reaches to each and every section of the society respectively.

In developed economies the trend is that women are seeing larger participation as part of the overall workforce. Each one of them has a large part to play in the overall success of the country as a whole respectively.

Case Specifics:-

While, the role of women is largely increasing in developed and developing societies alike, it is necessary to note, that there are still some instances in which they are viewed as subordinates and rarely included in the decision making process due to the attitude which most of them are thought of carrying.

The historic role, which women have played in developing an economy and a small organization or a bigger one has been sitting in the back seat and not being so much so a part of the overall think tank that sets policies for the organization. This often, is also known as the leaning out approach in which women are thought of as being lethargic and more committed to staying home because of their basic instinct than to strategies and take lead in an organization.

This is rapidly changing in modern societies and rightly so. Women need to be charge of their situations and it is necessary for their overall growth that they take measures which help in promoting their success respectively.

Leaning in here therefore refers to steps to be taken, to ensure that women are more active in development of the society and the company they work in. They need to forget the laid back approach and be more proactive in suggesting their ideas respectively.

It is important for modern day societies to grow and enable themselves to become socially independent in this, women must pay a big role in ensuring parity for all respectively.

This is not an industry specific thing. All industries that seek higher economic growth must ensure that women are more involved in the decision making process and in the words of Sheryl, women themselves must take the initiative and make it a success.
