DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MICROCOMPUTER AND MINICOMPUTER

  • The laptops or personal computers and smartphones that we use nowadays are referred to as the microcomputers whereas minicomputers were used primarily in the mid 20th century.
  • Talking about their sizes, we all know that the computers used nowadays referred to as microcomputers are very handy and come in very compact sizes in contrast to the minicomputers which usually were very large, heavy and needed more space.
  • The connectivity i.e. the microcomputers can be connected to internet and various other networks compared to minicomputers which cannot be connected.
  • The microcomputer can be connected to various output devices such as printers but minicomputers do not offer this functionality.
  • The microcomputers allows and supports multiple user access simultaneously in the range of thousands whereas minicomputers allowed only a few hundreds.
  • Thr processing speed of the microcomputers is faster than that of minicomputers.
  • The microcomputers have very large memory storage compared to that of minicomputers.
