Q: Why do you want to be a CPO peer educator? CPO stands for Center for Prevention outreach. I would love someone with experience to provide insights to their personal story.
Q: What experience do you have talking about health and wellness with your peers (high school or college)? Again I hope someone with experience provide insights.
Much appreciation, thank you!
Answer: In peer education, students are placed in the role of the educator for preventing various diseases and health problems among themselves and their classmates. I want to be a Center for Prevention and Outreach (CPO) peer educator because it will give me an opportunity to address many student concerns about mental health, sexual violence, alcohol and narcotic substances, healthy relationships, and diseases like HIV AIDS. As I think, I am good at interpersonal skills, so it will be helpful for this CPO peer educator role. A CPO peer educator provides prevention and early intervention so that students can take care of themselves. This gives a feeling of responsible person in a society. This CPO peer educator role gives me an opportunity to use my interpersonal skills to solve various student problems. I understand various student concerns, therefore I can help other students so that they become mentally strong and healthy.
Answer: I have lot of experiences talking about health and wellness with my peers. I used to talk about health and wellness issues in school as well as college. During school, I used to talk about various diseases like fever, malaria, typhoid and their symptoms with my classmates. During college, one of my friend was having symptoms of HIV AIDS. He told me about this. He was having symptoms like fever, body rash, swollen glands, headache, joint aches and pains, muscle pain. I searched about the symtoms of HIV AIDS and it was same what he was having. Therefore, I took him to the doctor for check up. After check up, it was found that he is HIV positive but it was his stage 1. Then I have supported him in every possible way I could.
