There are two types of Groups in performing an experience

  1. Control Group 2. Experimental Group

The first one is called the Control Group is used for the sake of comparison i.e comparing two different groups.

The other group in any experiment is called the experimental group.

Control Group and Experimental group differ from only one Variable.

So the Difference between a Control Group and Experimental Group would be

Control – Control Group cannot get manipulated and is utilized as a foundation for comparison

Experimental Group – In the Experimental Group, the variable gets manipulated.

For Example in a Family, where the parents are too cruel, they have decided to run an experiment on their Twins. They’re treating one of their kids for Vacation and leave the Second twin alone.

Why are they doing this?

They want to see when the twins grow up to be adults, which one would be happier. So the question is which you may ask, why wouldn’t you take both the twins for Vacation and then see who turn out to be happy adults when they grow up.

But that from a Scientific experiment point of view, we wouldn’t be able to compare both the Kid’s happiness, as they would already be happy kids, with or without the vacation.

So now after applying this scenario, we have made it clear that one would be the Control Kid and the other would be the experimental kid.

Also, we can re- compare the happiness to each other and the difference between both of the kids is, one gets to go on vacation and the other doesn’t.

So here to reinstate the point - Experimental Group is the kid who gets treated with the Vacation and the effect would be happiness.

Control group is the kid who's been left alone and he doesn't get treated with the Vacation and the effects might be resentment/unhappiness.

The solution to Question B.

First, we need to understand What are Factorial Designs

They are experiment which involves two or more independent variables at the same time.

It also contains at least one Dependent Variable.

Terms

Factors - Factors are used in a term for independent Variable.

So you're right. a Factorial Design can be accompanied by two or three levels and then you may get the correct answer.
