2) Secondhand smoking is the cause of serious disease and premature deaths in non smoker adults and children.It may result in lung cancer, bronchitis, heart diseases and other serious respiratory conditions. Every person has the right to breathe in a smoke free air. In order to protect people from these deadly outcomes, the most effective way is a smoke free environment. These are certain thoughts that led to the development of such laws and a successful adoption of such laws by the community.

3) The three policy implication of smoke free restaurant laws are:

  • Implication of such laws have led to decreased exposure of secondhand smoking among workers and customers in bars and restaurants.
  • Implication of such laws did not effect the business of the restaurant or bars.
  • These laws brought a positive change in the smoking behavior of some people.
