Read case: The marry-Go-Round - Letter to my Doctor on page 444 of the textbook, and address the following: 1. The physician never responded to the patient's letter of desperation. Discuss what you would suggest the patient should do. 2. Describe the legal and ethical issues that appear in the correspondence. 3. As the patient continues on her marry-go-round, discuss what you would advise her to do.
a) I would suggest the patient to consult another good physician and file a complaint of negligence on the present physician as it is clearly known that he has failed to act on the situation . Moreover he's least concerned on patient's health .
b) There was a failure to provide the patient with reasonable care and that this failure caused her to suffer harm as her health condition is deteriorating. This is an act of negligence.
Physicians are entitled to take vacations or otherwise leave their office for personal and other reasons; both the public and the law recognize this right. It is, however, inappropriate for physicians to do so without arranging for another doctor. The doctor has spoiled the trust of patient, he has deceived her.The physician’s primary responsibility is to be an active advocate for his patients’ care and well-being.
c)A patient approaching a doctor expects medical treatment with all the knowledge and skill that the doctor possesses to bring relief to their problem. But when he is least concerned of patient , she should consult another physician as she's sick.
