Diarrhea is very common disease in children. Acute diarrhea is lasting for less than one week and it no longer than 14 days. If stools are less formed and more watery that means child has suffered by diarrhea.
Treatment; Increase fluid and dietary changes are the main treatment for diarrhea. Eat more foods containing starch and starchy foods are perfectly digested,for example; rice , banana , bread , pasta etc.
Proper hand washing and safe food handling are the two ways to prevent spread of the germs during diarrhea. Diarrhea can be very contagious so always wah your hands after using toilet. Also after changing the diapers of the child then wash your hands.
Drink lots of water , avoid fruit juice and carbonated drinks to prevent the diarrhea. If the child is breastfeeding then keep feeding when it necessary not over during diarrhea.
When child having diarrhea, to avoid dehydration which can be very dangerous. Dehydration means lose of more salts and water out of child body. To avoiding dehydration oral rehydration(ORS) can be used. It is the mixture of salt , water and sugar in specific amounts. During diarrhea in child it replace most fluids in the child body.
Keep giving your child the oral rehydration solution until diarrhea is less frequent. When vomiting decreases then get your child to breastfeed as usual and feeding their regular diet.
