Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka is one of the landmark
judgement of the U.S Supreme Court. In 1954 The U.S Supreme Court
made a unanimous decision and declared that "Seperate educational
facilities are inherently unequal" and this violate the U.S
Constitution's fourteenth amendment clause for equal
protection.
The case was initiated in 1951 when a black student was refused by
a nearby school to admit and advice her to take admission in a
segregated black elementary school. Not only Browns but many others
were also faced similar issues. This leads them to file a suit
against the segregation policy and alleged it was
unconstitutional.
The decision of the court was to end the segregation as it is
unconstitutional. However this didn't bring in to practical as the
racial discrimination is still continuing in the school in U.S in
one way or another way.
This decision has made some negative impact as well . After this
judgement the schools were made with integrated schools and fired
black principals and teachers from the segregated schools.
The racial discrimination in U.S has decreased very much as
compared to early 1800 and 1900 but again there is a rise in racial
discrimination in the recent past.
When we examine statistics, 60 percentage of the employed black
women worked as domestic servants. As compared to 2019 emplyed
black women worked as domestic servants are less than 3 percentage
and more than 60% black women hold white-collar jobs. This shows
that there is development in the social life of black people.
The major issue nowadays black people are facing is the criminal
atrocities they are facing and which are increased well in the very
recent future, especially after the Trump came into power.
