For this assignment, you are to create a comprehensive operating policy for an emergency services agency that covers all components of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). In the introduction of your policy, identify the considerations, potential risks, and possible mitigation of legal action against emergency services organizations. These should include the penalties for CSA violations.
At a minimum, your policy must establish guidelines in the following areas:
*drug schedules,
*security requirements,
*loss or theft of controlled substances,
*recordkeeping,
*inventory,
*disposal,
*wasting controlled substances.
Guidelines to follow under emergency services:
1. Drug schedule: we need to keep schedule for the drugs when we need to provide medication for the patient.
2. Safety requirements: The safety requirements are recording, reporting, documentation, are the safety measures for drugs.
3. Loss or theft of controlled substances: If your not maintaining the safety measures it may chance to loss the substances and if your not keeping in the proper storage area's.
4. Record-keeping: Whenever the new drugs are comming the staff members they need to keep store book for the new drugs. So every day record-keeping must be there.
5. Inventory: We need to check the inventory twice a month or weekly we need to go through the medicine.
6. Disposal: Proper disposal of the medicine in the respected colour coding waste management bins.
7. Wasting controlled substances: Rather than destroying the things it is better to keep in sterilization or autoclaving for control the waste otherwise we need to go through the recycling methods for the medicine.
