Environment provides indispensible necessities to humans, animal life and plant life, such as water, food, shelter, and air resources. Human everyday actions negatively impacting the environment, causing various problems such as pollution, deforestation. As the human population increases, environment will change. The environment plays a significant role in life. Environmental degradation is a process through which the natural environment is exploited reducing biological diversity and health of the environment. This process can be natural in origin or it can be caused by human activities. There are mainly three different types of environmental degradation, they are land degradation, water degradation, and air degradation. The degradation of these three environments impacts the global climate and living conditions. Effects of environmental degradation are, Biodiversity loss, Soil erosion, Endangerment of species, Natural disasters, Landslides, Acid rain, Global warming.
Causes:
Environmental degradation is caused by the dynamic inter relation of socio-economic, institutional and technological activities. Most of the resources on the planet areleftout very less in amount, and the rates at which we are exploiting them have already brought some of them to exhaustion. Exploitation of the fossil fuels is the best example of this phenomenon. Large scale exploitation has depleted the fossil fuel reserves across the world, Other human activities which have been contributing to environmental degradation include urbanization, overpopulation, deforestation, pollution, hunting, etc. Environmental changes may be driven by many factors including economic growth, population growth, urbanization, intensification of agriculture, rising energy use and transportation. Poverty also play a important role in several environmental problems.
Solution:
Replace disposal items with reusable items, Reduce consumption levels, Conserve water and electricity, Recycle the waste to conserve natural resources, Solutions for environmental degradation, Stop deforestation,High fines for illegal dumping, Stricter government regulations, Support environmental friendly practices, Nature reserves and biotopes, the use of paper should be avoided, Reduce waste production, Refrain from plastic packaging and disposable cups, Education.
