1.
Allopatric speciation is most likely to occur in which of the following scenarios?
Group of answer choices
There are two distinct possible feeding strategies within a given population, causing the rise of two species living in the same geographic area.
All of the “parent” species of a new species go extinct, reducing gene flow between populations.
A mutation changes the mating ritual followed by a subset of individuals in a population, and they end up forming an all-new species.
A large lake is divided into two smaller lakes by a geological process, dividing a single species of fish into two different groups.

Question 1
Option 4
Speciation is the process of evolution of different species from a population. Based on the geographical isolation speciation is of three types, Allopatric speciation, Parapatric speciation, and Sympatric speciation. Allopatric speciation is the evolution of a population into two species due to the complete geographical isolation. It may happen due to separating into two lakes or separated by a heavy mountain etc. These geographical barriers reduce or completely stop the gene flow between these two populations and by the time they evolve into two species. In option four, it stated that the organism is separated into two groups due to the separation lakes and this is the best scenario for allopatric speciation.
Question 2
Option 4: convergent evolution
The convergent evolution can be described as the evolution of two similar characters in unrelated organisms when adapting to similar environments. One of the best examples is Shark, Ichthyosaur, and Dolphins. Even though these three organisms are living in aquatic environments and having the body pattern, they belong to different classes. The shark belongs to Pisces, Ichthyosaur belongs to reptiles and dolphins belong to mammals. Systematics is the science of classification and the Ancestry describes one organisms descent. Since humans and chicken are involved differently, this option is wrong.
Question 3
Option 4 - Macroevolution
Macroevolution is the evolution of different species from an ancestral species due to the accumulations of large scale changes over a long period of time, some times geological time periods. Adaptive radiation can be defined as the evolution of an ancestral species that are adapted to a particular environment into different species, each adapted to a different habitat. Adaptive radiation is one of the patterns in macroevolutions. Other patterns include Convergent evolution, Mass extinction, and coevolution. Microevolution is the small scale changes happening to a group in a short period of time and as a result, a new variety is being formed. Systematics and taxonomy are the science of classification.
