Question 1 For question 1, you are required to read the article by Nadav Klein titled ‘Prosocial behavior increases perceptions of meaning in life’ published in The Journal of Positive Psychology (2016). Based on the article, complete the following task:

Define prosocial behaviour. How can prosocial behaviour increases perceptions of meaning in life? Describe any prosocial behaviour that you have been involved in recently.

Prosocial behavior means helping others either by volunteering , giving money or giving any kind of help that is not guided by self interest but by interest of others.

For example , taking an injured person to the hospital at paying for preliminary treatments.

Prosocial behavior has many benefits including increasing the emaning in life. Researches have shown that prosocial behavior leads to psychological positive consequences of increased self worth and self esteem. High self worth and esteem increases the meaning in life . Moreover , it improves oneself social reputation and social interaction that is most basic thing for a meaning in life. Furthermore, pro social behavior also increases one's positive emotion and diminished destructive emotion of anger and jealousy. This help in having more meaning in life.

I started visiting an orphanage every Sunday since last month . I play for half an hour with them, teach them some basic skills and distribute them stationary and other requirements. This gives me a sense of self worth and internal satisfaction. I think myself lucky enough to have some usefulness for a section of population.
