9. What is kyphosis? Why does this occur in some individuals diagnosed with osteoporosis? Which upper body muscles are most likely shortened/tight, and which muscles would you expect to find lengthened/weak as a result of kyphotic posture? What specific stretching and strengthening exercises could you prescribe in Lisa’s exercise program to address these upper body muscle imbalances?

KYPHOSIS : Excessive backwardcovexity of the spine.
2 TYPES: A) ROUND KYPHOSIS:- Gentle backward curvature of the spinal column.Seen in diseases affecting a number of vertebrae.
B) ANGULAR KYPHOSIS:- Sharp backward prominence of spinal column. Seen in collapse of only one vertebral body.
WHY IN OSTEOPOROSIS?
OSTEOPOROSIS is a condition where there is a decreased bone mass.. DORSO-LUMBAR regionis the most commonest sitte.leading to exaggeratedLLUMBAR LARDOSIS, as a result of which THORAIC SPINE develops COMPENSATORY KYPHOSIS.
MUSCLES : SHORTENED- Levator scapulae( back of neck) Pectoralis major &minor.
LENGTHENED- deltoid , trapezius, latismus dorsi, rhomboids
EXERCIES:- Chest squeezee with ball
push up with ball
bumbell flies with ball
OTHER MEDICAL CONDITION: Hyperkyphosis I have given this vcondition as this condition also presents with all theabove symptoms and signs nd measurement taken attwo or more sittings confirms the diagnosis
