France is a democracy with a presidential form of government. The country's legislature is bicameral which includes the Senate and the National Assembly. The country is a part of the G8 grouping which includes eight countries that are highly industrialized. It is also a permanent member of the UN security council. It is the 9th largest economy in the world and the second largest economy in the European union. Of the total population of the country 51% are christians, 40% are irreligious and the remaining belong to other religions. With respect to technology, the country is well equiped and is one of the largest contributor to the ESA (European Space Agency). It has nuclear capabilities and manufactures space, communications, automotives and military technologies. Its transport system is well developed with a fine network of roadways. TGV is a high speed bullet train that is a part of France's high end transport system. The country has 68 nobel laureates till date. It is a member of CERN and is involved in research of cutting edge technologies.
