This chapter discusses the different types of research design and you have read about them as well. For this entry, conduct a PubMed search and find two abstracts of studies both using a cross sectional design. The abstracts may be on any topic you chose-and they do not all have to be on the same topic. In your post, include each abstract and write about the distinguishing factors of the design used, and comment on whether or not you feel there was any other way this study could have been designed. In addition comment on next steps for the topic given the findings.

Cross-sectional study is a type of observational study plan which simultaneously analyzes exposure and outcome of an experimental plan. It analyzes the participants whether they are selected in a study or devoid in that study. It analyzes the potential of occurence of diseases in a sample population under study. The example includes the study of bacterium Propiniobacterium acne which causes acne vulgaris infection on skin of humans. The sensitivity of various antibiotic drugs was tested for inhibiting the growth of the bacteria strains like erythromycin and azithromycin.
HIV analysis case study included the analysis of the prevalence of AIDS in workers whose main occupation was sex-work as compared to normal people. The patients with sex work had higher rates of procuring sexual diseases as compared to normal people. Prevalence rates of disease was checked by analyzing and calculating the number of people infected with this disease in society. Odds ratio given as AD/BC is calculated for the chance of occurence of HIV in society. It can be used for estimating and analyzing public health monitoring and planning at a fast rate without any discrepancies.
