Electronic Health Record( EHR) is an electronic record of health related information on an individual that conforms to nationally recognised interoperability standard and that can be created, managed and consulted by authorised clinicians and staffs across more than one health care organizations. EHR has various functions when being used in the health facilities. It is mainly used in identifying as well as maintaining the records of patients. In identifying, the system collects such information and save it as a single patient record for each of the patients.

Advantages associated with the use of EHR are as follows:-

1) EHR system has the ability to ensure that the departments within a health facility and other facilities can share electronically accurate and upto date complete informations regarding the patients and thus helps in achieving higher quality as well as safer care and management for the patients.
