If a healthcare professional is involved in providing a direct patient care, they are said to be providing the clinical services. For example, the physicians, nurses, medical lab technicians, and dieticians, and therapists provide clinical services.
The non-clinical works are also the works in the hospital, but they do not provide the direct patient care. Examples include the works of administration department (such as reception, record maintenance, etc.), social workers, case managers, executives, and information technology (IT) professionals.
The nurses and other medical professionals should develop both the clinical and non-clinical working skills to run a medical facility smoothly. For example, a medical assistant must develop skills to receive the patients, receive phone calls, maintaining, patient records, and also assisting the physicians, nurses during the clinical procedures helps to manage the work load among the workers depending on the need.
