Three of the seven goals in the National Plan to Improve Health Literacy are:
Describe two different ways to fulfill those goals(each). Please be specific.
Goal 1: Develop and disseminate health and safety information that is accurate, accessible, and actionable
1. Using plain and simple language to delver the health and safety information: The major hurdle in dissemination of the information is the use of technical and un-cormprehensible language that is not understood by the common man. When we present health and safety information in structures, simple, pain and easy format we can fulfill the goals effectively
2. Using Visual Aids: Among he population where there is low to no literacy, using visual aids like graphics, videos, illustrations can help the target audience understand and assimilate the health and safety information in a better way as compared to traditional text based literature.
Goal 2: Promote changes in the healthcare delivery system
that improve information, communication, informed decision-making,
and access to health services
1. Establishing Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO): By establishing an EPO we can negotiate a way to deliver healthcare service to the community at a discounted rate and use it to gain community confidence and propagate the information by communication via an EPO and also provide better access to health services.
2. Community focused meeting/ seminars: By arranged meetings/ seminars that focus on the specific health issues that the community is facing we can encourage and educate the community by provided guided information, help in making decisions for a healthy lifestyle and help to get the treatment by referring to cost effective healthcare access
Incorporate accurate and standards-based health and developmentally appropriate health and science information and curricula into child care and education through the university level
1. Integration into Medical and Nursing Curriculum: The goals in the National Plan to Improve Health Literacy will only be effectively propagated if the youth and future healthcare workforce is given a thorough information on healthcare standards and health and science information and curricula into child care and education if it is mandatory included in the curriculum. By this way we can ensure the professionals of tomorrow are well guided and informed of healthcare literacy and youth of today is understanding the importance of healthcare literacy.
2. Promoting research and grants for Public health literacy for academic sections: By promoting research and providing funding to the universities and students involved we can have innovative ideas and implementation mechanisms that can make the goals of National Plan to Improve Health Literacy be implemented in a better way and also lead to development of standards and child safety legislation and policy framework.
