1. A friend consults you regarding the effectiveness of taking garlic as a cure for his common cold. You discourage him from taking your own personal opinion on this matter and you advise him instead to look at the wealth of research performed in the past in this area. What are three different levels of research resources (above conventional wisdom) based on the different ways that research is conducted or aggregated in order to find an evidence-based solution to your friend’s problem? Explain in detail what is contained in each resource type.
The research study is in the basis of evidence based practices.
To find an evidence based solution for this , Do an experimental study. The Level of evidence are assigned to studies based on the methodological quality of their design , validity and applicability to patient care . So these resources are collected from randomised controlled trial or evidence based practices, using a sample size to do an Experiment regarding the garlic effect in common cold.
That is given a set of group for garlic in a period of interval. And other set of group give a to give nothing. And check the reaction to garlic effect in the common cold patients . The study shows that the garlic have an antibacterial and antimicrobial effect.
*Type of studies is used randomised controlled trial that is compare the garlic with no treatment of the common cold.
* Select participants include inclusion and exclusion criteria.
* And it will show the intervention from garlic active clients .
The previous year findings and research related to the garlic effectiveness in common cold is proven that the applied person are get reduced the effect of common cold and others have occure recurrent common colds. Garlic used persons are reduced the occurrence of common cold.
Expalnation of study resources;
* Randomised controlled trial
* quasi experimental study
* Cohort study or case control
These study is help to find an solution.
* Randomised controlled trial is to reduce the bias occuring in the study . It is usefull in testing new treatment effectiveness.
* Cohort study or case control
It is concerned with frequency of disease in exposed and non exposed individuals . Amount of exposure in subjects with a specific disease and people without disease. This study is help to analyse the effectiveness.
* Quasi experimental study
This study is estimated a casual impact of an intervention on target population .
