The attributes that a global manager needs to manage a multicultural team where ever in the world that multicultural team is include attributes like good communication skills, awareness of different cultures, problem solving aptitude in case of differences, building understanding and interpersonal relationships with team members for better work environment.
A global manager needs to be aware of the cultural differences in various aspects of the multi cultural team like their attitude towards hierarchy, planning, decision making, communication and future. Depending on such differences, the team members may differ in their behavior. A global manager can organise the team and create structures that overcome any differences and have scope of intervention to overcome the multi cultural differences. Understanding of different cultures and educating the team also to behave in such circumstances is an important attribute of global manager. Building team support for cooperation and mutual understanding for achieving common goals is another leadership quality of Global manager in multi cultural environment. Aligning the team culture as per the goals of top management and identifying ways to build a common approach for achieving the organisational goals is done by global managers in multi cultural environment.
