Explain how gender is significant in shaping the life and social position of individual born in the United States today?
gender roles in the United States have changed drastically over time. There is historical evolution from a single-income family, or a family unit in which one spouse (typically the father) is responsible for the family income, to a dual-income family, or a family unit in which both spouses generate income
In earlier socities there was a huge difference between the roles of both gender men were to work outside, while women were to be housewives and work at home. They played almost no role in the labor force. In today scenario in U.S men and women are treated almost equal .In many countries, race and gender are major factors that hinder social development and human rights. Looking at all the advancements in the United States with human rights, we can see the progression of opportunities and social development among gender and races. Because of discrimination laws that have been passed, there is less discrimination in the areas of education, job vacancies, promotion opportunities, and stereotyping. Enforcement of these laws have led to changing attitudes among the genders and races.
Children born at the beginning of the 21st century already live in a dramatically transformed world of gender dynamics than the world of their grandparents. They will bring to the intimate relations they create as adults much more egalitarian expectations about the appropriate roles for men and women than in the past. With these expectations and, perhaps, greater institutional supports for equal sharing of domestic burdens, they may also be able to further erode the inequalities linked to gender that are rooted in the intimate settings of the families.
