Expert Solution

Unlicensed assistive personnel(UAP)

UAP can delegate vital signs. Monitoring of pulse, respiration, temprature and blood pressure can be done by an UAP. And also had the right to document it.

UAP can delegate to assess the pain level of patient. Because it is an assessment version to check the comfort level of patient. UAP always stand to the patients comfort.

UAP can titrate O2 to maintain SpO2. Because it is an emergency situation and they had to work accordence with the situation.

UAP had no right to discontinue NGT and begin clear liquid diet. It is prescribed by a doctor. And also she cannot feed the patient through a NG tubing.

UAP had no right to change the surgical dressing. So they cannot take care of patient after surgery.

They can assist with meals PRN. They had the right to feed a patient.

UAP are not allowed to distribute medications so they are not able to give Metoprolol with meals

Normally the nurses are teach the patient about the use of  incentive spirometer and demonstrate it to the patient.

UAP are not able to discontinue foley catheter or any other catheters and tubings.

UAP had the right to repositioning the patient from bed to chair or in the bed can provide diffrent positions.
