Expert Solution

13)Period and Frequency inversely proportional. ?

14) The maximum displacement from the equilibrium position is call the?

Answer: The maximum displacefrom the equilibrium is called Amplitude.

15.) An object in the absence of friction that oscillates indefinitely is said to be in what?

Answer: An object in the absence of friction that oscillates indefinitely is said to be in simple harmonic motion.

Because simple harmonic is the is a special type of periodic motion  and it involves repetitive movement back and forth through an equilibrium, or central, position, so that the maximum displacement on one side of this position is equal to the maximum displacement on the other side and this maximum displacement is called amplitude. The force responsible for the motion is always directed toward the equilibrium position and is directly proportional to the distance from it.

A simple pendulum is displaced to the left of its equilibrium position and is released from rest. Set the origin of the coordinate system at the equilibrium position of the pendulum, and let counterclockwise be the positive angular direction. Assume air resistance is so small that it can be ignored. Part A: Beginning the instant the pendulum is released, select the graph that best matches the angular position vs. time graph for the pendulum. Part B:Beginning the instant the object...

A mass attached to a spring is displaced from its equilibrium position by 5cm and released. The system then oscillates in simple harmonic motion with a period of 1s. 6. “Starting from an initial position of equilibrium with X – M =0, an economy experiences income growth. If this growth is due to an autonomous increase in investment, then the balance of trade will move into a deficit, while if it is due to an exogenous increase in exports then the balance of payments will display a surplus, although the surplus will be less than the initial increase in exports.”
