Focus group provides the valuable insight for the needs of the target audience, the activities that a focus group moderator should do in advance are as follows :

a. Knowing the goal : Before starting any focus goal, the moderator must know why they are gathering the participants to participate in focus group hence writing down the end goal is important so as to roadmap the planning process.

b. Target audience : Having a clear list of the target audience based upon the ethnicity, gender, age, hobbies, income level etc is essential so as one gets clear idea of what they are trying to target.

c. Venue : Before starting a focus group finding a venue which would be in close proximity of target audience, having car parks, easy access etc is essential for conducting the event. These can sometimes be schools, community centre or church hall.

These activities are important as they will save a time and money as the activities that are needed to conduct a focus group are preplanned while suits the needs of the event instead of last minute rush.
