Suppose that you are traveling on board a spacecraft that is moving with respect to the earth at a speed of 0.955c. You are breathing at a rate of 8.0 breaths per minute. As monitored on earth, what is your breathing rate?
8.0 breaths per minute on board the spacecraft means that each breath takes 0.125 min .
Thus, As monitored on earth, each breath lasts = 0.125 * [1/sqrt(1 - 0.9552)]
= 0.4214 min
Thus, As monitored on earth, breathing rate = 1/0.4214
= 2.3728 breaths per minute
