Describe the NEPA legislation and the documents that can be produced from it
The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) can be seen as the environmental law that is being formulated by the United States in order to promote the improvement in the environment and this law develops the President's Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). This act came into existence on 1st Jan,1970. This act is action-forcing legislation which indicates that there is no criminal or civil punishment and thus all the implementation fo the guideline of NEPA will be carried out by the court system
The main documents are as below-
Environmental Assessment (EA)= This is the document that proposes the various actions and activities that are to be implemented and these have the chance of having a major impact on the human environment
Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) = Thee are the documents that come up with the proposal of plans to have a significant impact on the quality of the human environment
Executive Order (EO) 12114= The main objective of this document is to facilitate the fundamental objective and environmental considerations to the different Federal agencies
