This was a theory put forward by
Bowen, which was also referred to as the family systems theory.
Thus was the theory that visualised the family to be in the form of
an unit of emotions and this would be using the system of thinking
for describing the complex interactions that take place within the
emotional unit.
Pros are:
- The different parts of a system
are evaluated with respect to the entire system.
- Individuals could not be separated
from their relationship networks.
- This formed a trerment process that
would be objective and different from the conventional
frameworks.
- He states that, as there would be
changes in the behavior of one of the family members, it would be
having an influence on the behavior of other members of the
family.
Cons:
- The work is more complicated, than
simple identification of the history of family.
- There is not enough emphasis laid
on the source of a symptom that is present on the immediate
basis.
- Symptom relief is not laid emphasis
on.
