If you have three samples Alluminum, Copper and Nylon and I do a full experiment on them to find their yield strengths, all the modulus data, their haderning and so forth, where would you use each model?

1. Alluminum.......
2. Copper........
3. Nylon......

Solutions

Expert Solution

Sample Available are:-

1.Aluminium.

2.Copper.

3.Nylon

Solution to the problem:-

Some important Properties of aluminium are:-

1. It is light in weight. Its specific gravity is 2.7gm/cm3.

2.It is malleable and ductile.

3.It is good conductors of heat and electricity.

4.It has Very good oxidation and corrosion resistance.

5.It is non toxic.

Important Use of Aluminium considering above properties are as follows:-

1.It is used in aerospace and automobile industries since it is light in weight.

2.It is used extensively as electric wires conductors It is good conductors of electricity.

3.It is used for making fins of the radiators of the automobilesIt is good conductors of heat.

4.It is used in precise tubes of refrigerators, air, conditioners and solar panel.

5.It is used for making soda cans and food containers since it is non-reactive with food items.

Similarly the use of the copper is discussed considering its properties:-

1.Copper is used in tubes of the boilers since it has high thermal conductivity.

2.Because of its excellent machinability it is extensively used for making studds, bolts, nuts and welding tips.

3.Because of its good electrical properties it is widely used in electrical parts such as electrical wires, contact pins, switch gear, relays and precision electrical equipments.

4.Because of its excellent oxidation resistance properties it is used for making valve stem and pump impellers.

5. It is also used for structural purposes.

Uses of nylon considering its properties are as follows:-

1.In textile industries nylon are extensively used for making Shirts, Foundation garments, lingerie, raincoats, underwear, swimwear and cycle wear.

2. Since nylon is very strong it has wide industrial uses such as Conveyer and seat belts, parachutes, airbags, nets and ropes, tarpaulins, thread, and tents.

3.It is used as plastic in manufacturing machine parts

4.It is used to make a fish net.

I conducted an experiment in lab to synthesize copper(II) and iron(II) oxalate. I calculated a final mass of 7.4202g K_3[Fe(C_2O_4)_3] x 3H_2O (g). In order to find the theoretical mass of this substance, do I assume that theoretical mass is equal to the molar mass of that product formed? Then to find % yield - take the actual mass of 7.4202g/theoretical (491.326g)x100? I feel as though I am missing something here. Can someone please explain and help me solve this...
