Regarding theft crimes, explain in ONE page, why Florida law has so many theft statutes, and so many different sentences for such crimes as theft from the elders, or identity theft, or purse snatching versus sudden snatching, etc.
Theft refers to the taking property of another without his/her will for permanently and temporarily petit theft becomes 2nd degree misdemeanour when stolen items value is below $100 2nd degree misdemeanour value of stolen property is less than $300 and when value of stolen property is from $300 to $2000 and if vehicle and other things are included crime will charged differently according to case.
Robbery is the different thing from theft because robbery refers to the taking property from someone without his will and forcefully and violently. Without any arm and weapons, it becomes the 2nd-degree felony. It may cause up to life prison. Sudden snatching or purse snatching with the use of firearm, charge is increased but if chain snatching or sudden snatching is done without any force punishment of it is lesser than earlier case.
Hence, It is necessary that punishment for theft and robbery should be different because these crimes are different in nature. Theft should not be confused with robbery. That is why Florida law has so many theft statutes, and so many different sentences for such crimes as theft from the elders, or identity theft, or purse snatching versus sudden snatching, etc.
