Women and Physical Activities: Sociocultural characteristics and cognitive processes

Regular Physical Activities and nutritious diet are the two major part of healthy lifestyle. This is compulsory for both male and female candidates. You can't say that women have less need of physical activities or male have more need to be physically fit than female counterparts. Obesity and overweight are increased among adult women. So they need to be Physical Active as the male counterparts.

Women and girls constitutes more than half of the population in almost each country. Women are less likely to be prefer the minimum amount of physical activities. This can be understand as self neglect due to giving priorities to other responsibilities at home and outside. They admitted that they can't give time to Physical Activities due to the time left after home responsibilities and other assignments is so less that they can't manage them with Physical Activities. So time constraints also a barrier.

But in many societies women viewed activities of daily housework as physical activities. There are meagre number of women utilized organized fitness facilities. Because many women think that rigorous physical activities are meant for males because they are strong. This is psychology in some societies and cultures.

Some social and cultural factors are also barred them to be motivated for Physical Activities. Like in some Muslim and other religion, most women preferred to exercise indoor than to go outside for Physical Activities. This can be due to these women keeping Hijab due to gender differences. Some women admitted that they cannot do Physical Activities in parks because there are men in Parks. In some cultures women expressed their embarrassment regarding Physical Activities. They feel ashamed when they go to swimming pool and wear a swimsuit.

In some cases women are afraid of making their physical status worse due to safety constraints in Physical Activities. Because injury part is attached and associated with these activities. Lack of motivation and willingness is also associate with women because fatigue due to Physical Activities and willingness toward indolence and relaxation emphasized by some women. Age related factors also emphasized because some older women don't go in Physical Activities facilities because they think that these are.meant for younger girls and women. Psychological factor like some women thinks when they left physical activities then they will become more lazy and fat.

In some countries like in South Africa the women do not tends towards negative social pressure to loose weight. Also there may be some women unconcerned about obesity and the effects of obesity on their health and associated diseases risks. So demographic, educational and income factors also stimulate to tend towards Physical Activities among women.
