Expert Solution

The most important theory of Eliyahu M. Goldratt's in project management is Theory of Constrain:

This theory is created in 1984 in Eliyahu M. Goldratt's book 'THE GOAL'. This theory tells the principle and logic used by the person in various decision making. This theory is usually used in the organization for there improvement.Theory of Constrain (TOC) consist of the problem solving and management/decision making tool that are generally called the thinking tool. For the improvement of the organization TOC is applied to logically and systematically to find the answer of these three Question.which are:

  • What to change in the organization or in a place?
  • To what to change?
  • what action will change it?

In order to successfully improve the performance of the organization.TOC can be identified and managed according to the Theory.Which help the organization to improve there work culture or the workplace.

There are three types of constrain given by the Eliyahu M. Goldratt's are:

  1. Physical constrain - It is divided into two category one is 'capacity constrain'.which include the labour and building.second is 'material constrain'.which tells the raw goods and work in progress.
  2. Policy constrain - Policy of constrain can be divided into 'mindset constrain' and 'measure constrain'.In the mindset constrain companies thinking and assigning priorities is different from the course of the action in the organization.where as in the measure constrain is responsible for the measure, situations that encourage the behavior of the negative effect of the performance of the organization.
  3. Market constrain - Market constrain tells that the when the demand of the companies product are lesser than the capacity of the organization.

So, this theory is used for the improvement of the organization and we can say that.it is the most important theory that is used in the project management.
