Answer
The two ordinary ways of mixing colours are :
- Additive Colour Mixing
- Subtractive Colour Mixing
1. Additive colour mixing :
This method involves, creating a new colour by blending the
light colours. A wide range of different colour can be created by
simply mixing some basic light colours.
2. Subtractive colour mixing :
This method involves, creating a new colour by using limited
sets of natural colorants . This includes subtraction of certain
wavelengths from white light.
Difference
Between Additive and Subtractive colors
- Additive colour
system includes addition of particular colours together to
create something new, whereas the subtractive colour system
involves subtraction of a shade.
- Additive colour
system starts with darkness, whereas subtractive colour system
starts with light colour, i.e. white light.
- Additive color
synthesis occurs when three light zones are mixed optically
i.e. red, green, and blue, whereas Subtractive colour synthesis
occurs by mixing the basic material colors cyan, magenta and
yellow.
- The colour combination is different in Additive and Subtractive
Colors. Additive color
synthesis includes green + red = yellow, blue + red =
magenta, blue + green = cyan whereas, Subtractive colour synthesis
includes yellow + magenta = red, yellow + cyan = green, magenta +
cyan = blue.
- The system of Additive
color synthesis is RGB, whereas the system of Subtractive color synthesis is
CMYK.
