Greece was the most prosperous countries of it's time, being able to form a democracy eight thousand years ago is no siple feat, the idea of democracy in itself is quite fascinating.The civilazation also harbored a lot of our present art, architecture, math and science. Without this knowledge, Western civilization would be hard to imagine. They have contributed to a lot of present day methods and ideologies used by us.

That being said, the Greek invented maths and sciences and passed it down in scriptures and writings which imparts knowledge to the future generations and have given is various teachings about various other subjects as well. The ancient capital of Athens,the concept of democracy was born here and has thrived as we can still see democratic governments around the world. They revolutionised the concept of democracy and imparting knowledge. They also wrote a variety of stories and plays that coontinue to be performed till this date.The people of Greece tried to explain the laws of the working of the world. They valued imagination and beauty as well. Greek sailors learned from many different cultures and spread their ideas. They made important scientific and philosophical discoveries.

Thus Greek is referred to as the "fountainhead" of Western civilizations.
