A solution of sulfuric acid has a concentration of 0.0980 g/L. If the density of the acid is 1.84 g/mL, what is the concentration in ppm
mass = volume* density
let volume of solution is 1000ml
mass of solution = volume of solution * density of solution
= 1000*1.84 = 1840gm of solution
mass of sulphuric acid = volume of sulphuric acid in L * density of
sulphuric acid in g/L
= 1L * 0.0980
= 0.0980gm of sulphuric acid
weight of solvent = weight of solution - weight of solute
= 1840-0.098 = 1839.902 gm
molality = weight of substance* 1000/gram molecular mass *weight of
solvent
=
0.0980*1000/98*1839.902 = 543*106 =
543ppm>>>> answer
