1. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the stay at home order handed out by the Governor and the President we have had to use MIS more. Tools like Zoom have become widely popular and have seen increased users. However, they have also had some challenges. What are some of the challenges that Zoom has faced in the last few weeks? How would you recommend solving them?
2. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon AWS and Google have built their platform for situations like what we are experiencing. How has cloud computing evolved over the years to allow us some form of continuity? Do you believe there will be a rise in companies moving to the cloud and will there be new entrants to the cloud landscape with companies offering Saas? What are some examples of SaaS?
1.Due to stay home campaign amid Covid 19 pandemic, not only Americans but the world is staying at home and this make video conferencing app Zoom has become popular and surge in use.But with time, we have seen vulnerabilities in zoom and this led lawmakers and hackers to target it.
Due to world wide lockdown and stay at home campaign, zoom system is facing high traffic, but this led the CEO Eric Yuan, becoming billionare, as he made $ 4 billions in the past three months and shares are also skyrocketed.
But now its vulnerability has exposed when 'Zoombombing' phenomenon of this system crashed a live meeting in university of Texas where hackers or unknown users joined the meeting and started shouting racial remarks. Multiple incidences like this occurred after that FBI intervened and and issued notice by warning an alert to make the meetings and conferences private.
Zoom was also alleged for mining users analytics data and send it to facebook through its ios version.
In my view, Zoom system has to update its privacy policy strict and more secure for free users too. And phenomenon like zoombombing should be prevented.
2.On demand computing resources delivery over the internet is termed as cloud computing. It is very complicated term to define. This term is in spotlight only a few years but has become very popular. There are different platform for public cloud computing-
Software as a service -Saas
Infrastructure as a service- Iass
Platformas as a service - Paas
Companies are migrating towards cloud because of different reasons like when companies go into merger and acquisition, requirements of increase in capacity, security threats and compliances etc.For competing in dynamic envirommemt and to handle pressure of working and competition with time, new entrants are discovering new ways to get their work done migrating to cloud computing.
Saas is a service based software where the software is rented from the service provider instead of buying it individually. All the issues related security, upgrades, capacity etc is dealt by the service provider. It is the most popular form of public cloud computing due to its flexibility.Example- Dropbox, Mailchimps, GoogleApps, Hubspot etc.
