Consider all of the psychological conditions from the sections we have read, and then choose one that interests you the most. Describe the psychological condition (use outside resources for a more in-depth description - remember to include your reference) and then, from the section "Therapeutic Orientations," "Psychopharmacology," or another source, choose a therapy that you think might be effective with the disorder or condition you chose. Explain your reason for "using" that therapy. (Be sure to include references for full credit)

People suffering from depression and loneliness are advised for group therapy. It is very effective for the aged persons.

Group therapies involve procedures in which several people discuss their problems with one another under the guidance of a trained therapist. This therapy is helpful in teaching people the coping skill.

Most group therapies involve six to twelve persons and the therapist. The session lasts about two hours. As they discuss their problem they find that their problems are not unique. Many people live in happiness with the same problems. In fact they share their problems and the solution is also suggested by them with the help of the therapist.

Group therapy sessions encourage hope in the participants. A group psychology develops there. They are eager to do cooperation. It helps them to use their own coping skill. It increases their confidence and self-esteem. They get pleasure by helping others. It engages them in various activities. They are away from depression and loneliness.

In this therapy the practice of altruism brings the group members closer to each other. They get potential benefit from discussing and activities. A kinship is formed among them. It offers a supportive environment.

In this exercise, we examine one of the conditions of the Alternating Series Test. Consider the alternating series 1−1+1/2−1/4+1/3−1/9+1/4−1/16+⋯, where the terms are selected alternately from the sequences {1/n} and {−1/n^2}. Explain why the nth term of the given series converges to 0 as n goes to infinity. Rewrite the given series by grouping terms in the following manner: (1−1)+(1/2−1/4)+(1/3−1/9)+(1/4−1/16)+⋯. Use this regrouping to determine if the series converges or diverges. Explain why the condition that the sequence {an}{an} decreases...

Choose one of the psychological disorders discussed this week and briefly describe the criteria that qualifies it as a disorder.  What kinds of medical treatment(s) are recommended for this disorder? Discuss the cultural views of this disorder (any stigma or societal views?). Now that you have an understanding of the different theoretical perspectives, compare and contrast two different perspectives (such as psychodynamic and behaviorism) on how they would view this disorder and how it would be best treated.
