What advice would you give a patient to address risk factors for lung cancer? What does the average person know about the risk of Lung Cancer? What factors are important?? What types of jobs may increase one's risk?
We should advice them stop smoking, avoid passive smoke, smoke from other people's cigars, pipes, cigarettes, tobacco and also from smoke coming out from vehicles. To check radon in home and address it if needed. Wash hands, clean house, cover your coughs, wear mask, take the stairs instead of lifts, breathing exercise, go for morning walk and get vaccinated. An average person should keep all these mentioned factors in mind to avoid getting lung cancer.
Most important factors are:- Stop smoking completely as well as secondhand smoking of all kinds, exposure to radon and asbestos, arsenic in drinking water and air pollution.
Following jobs can put a person on high risk:- Rubber manufacturing, Agricultural jobs, Hairdressers and barbers, mechanics, construction workers, plastic workers, mining, metal working, pilots, radiology technician, chimney sweeper, chemical factor worker, pesticide related jobs and jobs near a cancer cluster.
