can you please provide a reasoning and decision making scenario. Can you please include all the steps and explanations for every step please.
Decision making is a skill that is required in many jobs and in many fields. There are certain steps that must be followed in order to make a scientifically right decision. A right decision is one that is the best out of the given options at a given point in time in a given scenario.
One such simple to understand scenario choosing the college in order to pursue a course one is interested in. For eg if the person is interested in pursuing Data Science, and is a good student, as in, they believe that they stand a ood chance at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) or at Harvard University, and finally the person has been selected at both the institutions, which one would they prefer going into, when he/she does not already have a priority in any of the institutes.
In such situations following steps would be taken in order to make a calculated decision.
1- Identify the decision- It is important to realise the significance of making the decision in terms of how much impact the decision would have later in life, and why it is important to choose the best option given the situation and circumstances. In the case iven above, hte person must realise how would choosing the option have an impact of the job they get in future and the intensity of their happiness and contentment, which is also important, along with convenience.
2- gather the information- It is important to have a good information of the options, hence gathering information from the reliable source would be a beneficial. In the given case, the person must gather information about their course of interest at both the institutions, and which one is better in terms of the job they would possibly get, and the privileges they might have.
3- Identifying the alternatives- In this case, the alternatives are pretty much clear as the person has been interested in both the institutions, since that is where he/she has applied to, and he has been selected at both places, so those are the alternatives.
4- Weigh the evidence- The person may do that by seeing the people who have taken the said course at given institutions, and seeing how successful they are. That may act as evidence and may help the person make a rough prediction ofhow the things would turn out if he works just as hard in each institution.
5- Choosing the alternatives- After weighing all the situations, including the expenses, hte loans he would be taking the concession he may be getting and the job prospects as well as the privileges that would accompany, the person at this stage must finally make a choice.
6- Taking the action- After one has made a choice, he must finally move ahead and take admission in the college he has chosen.
7- Reviewing the decicion- At this stage one must weigh and seen if the decision they have made has finally been fruitful as they have wanted, and have their needs of of Stage 1 been fulfilled and ahs been resolved now.
Although this is a very huge decision to make, but one must evaluate it by weighing their own subjective circumstances and must choose what is best given the circumstances.
