Integrated health care, often referred to as interprofessional health care, is an approach characterized by a high degree of collaboration and communication among health professionals. What makes integrated health care unique is the sharing of information among team members related to patient care and the establishment of a comprehensive treatment plan to address the biological, psychological and social needs of the patient. The interprofessional health care team includes a diverse group of members (e.g., physicians, nurses, psychologists and other health professionals), depending on the needs.

To form and operate integrated health care delivery systems requires great deal of commitment, leadership and can pose major challenges to even the most experienced manager. During professional integration many ask to perform functions and tasks for which they have never been previously responsible, activities can pose more risk, it is important that concentrate as a whole system rather independent organizations eg. Primary health care etc. Evaluating the strength and weakness of each network component based on managers credentials, past performance,commitment, attitude and leadership skills.
