Solution:
Toyota has been the pioneer in supply chain and operations innovation. They are the pioneers of quality management and are regarded as the best company to have implemented a solution to manage their quality requirements effectively. Toyota has introduced the concepts such as lean methodology, Kaizen and total quality management in their supply chain models that have helped them to effectively improve the quality quotient of their business and hence poses one of the best examples of quality management in the world.
Currently, Toyota is involved in practices such as lean manufacturing and six sigma where the objective of these methodologies is to understand the business processes and analyze them to find the redundant business processes and its elements to remove the waste from the processes so that we have the business processes that have the least redundancy in them. This makes the individual business processes very efficient and the cost implications of implementing the lean methodology are very lucrative for any business.
Toyota also has methodologies such as Kaizen that they use to make sure the efficient operating within the facility are carried out. Kaizen helps in effectively utilizing the space within the production facility and save the space effectively and optimize the flow of the materials within the production facility. Hence, this makes the flow of materials from machine to machine effective without many losses. Hence, this helps in improving the facility movement.
Lastly, the six sigma methodology is used by Toyota which states that the defects per million parts are very less and thus the quality improvements are huge. Six Sigma methodology is used to analyze the processes to get an idea about the effects in the final production. The six sigma methodology is then used to minimize the number of defects in the production and hence improve the output quality of the production. This helps in maintaining the quality of the product by reducing the defects which can have a wrong impression on the customers.
The quality management framework used by Toyota involves the principles of total quality management. This principle of quality management states that we must ensure 100% quality in whatever we are doing. This is the basis of the total quality management where we leave no stone unturned to manage the quality and ensure that all the business processes are tuned to follow the principle of total quality management. To manage the business processes involving total quality management we need skills such as analyzing the situation, understanding the processes and removing the redundancy. Also, having a keen eye for process improvement and being able to fine-tune the processes to ensure we are able to use all the quality methodologies for supporting the business processes.
Hence, this is how the Toyota company is utilizing the quality framework for their business processes and brief explanation of various other quality improvement methodologies used by the company.
