1. Ma4b2 cis and trans isomers only possible. In case of this type of complex, two isomers are possible. Cis – isomer in which two ‘b’s have adjacent positions, and trans – isomer in which two ‘b’s are diagonally opposite to each other.

In cis isomer, the three Clions are on one triangular face and the three NH3molecules are on the opposite triangular face of the regular octahedron. This isomer is called 1, 2, 3 or facial isomer. In the other isomer the Clions are around an edge of the octahedron and NH3molecules are around the opposite edge. This isomer is called 1, 2, 6 or peripheral isomer or meridional isomer.
