For some companies, it is well served to embed a proficient supply management professional in the internal business unit, and for others the most effective way is to provide a more centralized approach.
3) Market research:
A well market research should be done to understand the working of the supply chain. What kind of product is in demand and what must be the supply system of the particular product.
4) Establish key supplier alliances.
The ultimate success of strategic sourcing depends on the team’s ability to select key suppliers and to manage supplier alliances for critical spend areas. Perhaps one weakness in most strategic sourcing efforts is the follow through with the selected suppliers.
5) Implement effective technology.
Too many retailers buy first and hope to figure things out later. They structure their workflows and processes around new technology instead of the other way around. Successful supply chains review processes that are producing below standard to determine areas where technology can help improve.
6) Establish processes and controls:
You must understand that process of your supply chain has a process. This process must be in proper control. There has to be accountability of work that is done. This is important for any kind of processes.
