  • it is expensive s compare to ORS
  • high sugar content may induce osmotic diarrhea in some children
  • does not work in severe diarrhea
  • Dilution amount might be inappropriate

ORS ( oral rehydration solution)

Advantages

  • It is globally advice by the doctor
  • It helps in absorption of more water or fluid in the body during dehydration
  • it replace fluid and mineral such as sodium, potassium
  • it can be easily prepared at home by using salt and sugar
  • this can be use for all the age group
  • easily accessible.
  • for package, it is easy to understand how much water to be added as instruction are present.

Disadvantages

  • the solution prepared should be used only for 24 hours
  • ORS does not reduced diarrhea , it just treat dehydration
  • Unhygienic preparation will leads to infection as it need be prepare at home or need to dilute again.
