So, as Indira is recently promoted to functional manager position the challenges she will be facing in setting the goals for new subordinates will be as follow:
-effective communication with employees is one of the big challenges when you are just promoted as a manager. So, as a manager, it's vital to understand the communication dynamics within a team so that you can recognize the strengths and weaknesses and accordingly set the goals further.
-shifting your mindset alongside the new role as a manager. It's the responsibility of the manager to be a good listener and pay attention to the needs of the employees so that it can help in achieving the goals ultimately.
-balancing the time can be a challenge because being a manager you have to accomplish your goals also and manage the team also which can be difficult at times. So make sure your team is the priority.
-challenge of being and encouraging productivity. It's the responsibility of a manager to understand what each team person needs and in what manner because some employees might need personal instructions to accomplish the goal while some others may not need it personally.
-hiring for a team can also be a challenge because when you are new as a manager you don't know which things to include or exclude while taking up the interview. So being a manager, one shouldn't hesitate to take advice on help from other managers.
