Take a virtual tour of the Islamic art collection from either the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City or the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto. Select three pieces from these collections and write down your thoughts about these pieces. Why did you chose them? What do they add or contribute to your understanding of Islam? How to the pieces you chose compare with each other?
I have taken a virtual tour of Aga Khan Museum at Toronto. According to me the three collections namely AMULET and CASE, QUARTINE BY AL-FAQIR ALI AL KATIB(MIR'ALI), and SAYINGS of PYTHAGORAS attracts me a lot. So I will briefly discuss about these collections.
Amulet and Case-This prayer Amulet is a rare example of early Arabic printing technique known as Tarah. The paper displays eighteen lines of kufic text on both sides. The style of logic characters in the collection indicates Fatimid origin
Quartine by Al-Faqir Ali Al Katib (Mir'Ali) - These extraordinary codices were filled with specimens of calligraphy ,painting and drawing. This album folio contains writings by Lee of the greatest masters of nasta'liq script ,Mir Ali.
SAYINGS OF PYTHAGORAS -This image represents the didactic interactions between master and disciple or teacher and student as a trafictional mode of transmission of knowledge and learning. In this manuscript, various images of the putative sources of Islamic philosophy are placed in direct contact with students.
