For differenciating betweeen an endocrine disorder and a viral illness/exhausion he should collect past history regarding,

  • physical symptoms:- history of symptoms like fever,sore throat,head ache,myalgia,weakness,tachycardia,sweating,temperature bearing capacity,weight loss or gain,tremors,gyneacomastia,etc
  • personal history :- regarding sleep cycle,menstrual history,voiding pattern(like polydipsia,polyuria,nocturia),medicine consumption, food habits and water consumption,appetite use of tobacco or alcohol,etc
  • family history :- current history of viral illness in family,any endocrine disorders in family, thyroid and diabetes prevalance in the family.
  • history of current traveling
  • drug history:- like lithium,diuretics,steroids,etc
  • mental history:- of stress and anxiety
