PSALM 1-9
A David psalm, when he fled from Absalom his son.
2, lord, how many are my foes,
Many, who say of my life:
“no rescue for him through god.” Selah
4. and you, lord, a shield is for me,
My glory, who lifts up my head.
With my voice I cry out to the lord.5
And he answers me from his holy mountain, Selah
I lie down, and I sleep. 6
I awake, for the lord has sustained me.
I fear not from myriads of troops.7
That round about set against me.
Rise, lord! Rescue me, my god,8
For you strike all my foes on the cheek,
The teeth of the wicked you smash.’
Rescue is the lord!
On your people your blessing, Selah
Pslams chapter 3 shows the dire situation of David. His son Absalom is against him, he is after his life. David is fleeing for his life. He is mocked by people who feel that David got what he deserved. The people who want to see the down of David are viewing it as a punishment from God towards him, they pronounce that there no help coming from God to David, and they want it in the same, to see the destruction of David. Being in such a deep adversity David is troubled, but he has kept his faith on his creator. He firmly believes that no matter how he is mocked off and is affirmed destruction by his enemies, his maker will not cause him harm. He has faith in his creator that he will be sustained through this adversity and the plans of his enemies will fail against him, he will be rescued and his Creator will see that his enemies are paid back. David is assured by his faith in God and he is thankful for what God is going to do for him.
This chapter to me means that there will be situations in life when we will be turned down by whom we are close to. Maybe they will even turn against us and create problems to us. During such trials we should affirm our faith as David did. We should know that our Father will not harm, though we may be mocked or looked down by many, maybe they will want us to perish forever, but its not their wish that going to be done, but the care of our Creator will ensure that we make it through this bitter condition. So we should be thankful for his care and assurance, and wait upon him for our deliverance that will come in right time to us
